Traditional Stick Built, Concrete Block, Adobe, StrawBail, Post and Beam. Our plans were modest a 16\' by 24\' foot print. Estimates ranged from $28K to $43K just for materials and Custom Built from $53K to $130K. We even looked at Manufactured Housing which is common in our area. 73K set on site and we would have had to sign a \"Health Risk Notice\" aspart of our contract. What were we getting for our money in most of these building systems. Not what we wanted. \nOur needs were simple. Small Foot Print, Sustainable, Strong, able to withstand flood damage and Fire Damage as we live next to a River and a Bosque Well insulated and energy efficient.We got it all and for a great price too! \n\nTo date we are at around $32.87 per sq. ft. for 384 SQ Foot. \nDo the Math.......\n\nOther Stats:\n\n16 Actual Build Days\n4 Days had a crew of 4 the rest we did ourselves\nAbout 180 Man Hours to date\nDried in, Windows, Doors, Rough Plumbing, and Electrical Complete\nWe\'re impressed for Owner Older Bolder Builders. Light forms, no top or bottom, two cuts per course and 11 minutes from unpacking, unfolding and on the wall for the Stem Wall. Other courses took a bit more time like 18 man hours in one day. No Framing, No Insulating, Very little waste, the onlywood is one framed interior wall and we\'re ready for exterior Stucco and Interior Stucco. Another One Day Project. Next weekJ\n\nI have lived in many places in the US., and traveled extensively throughout our country as a Traveler and as a Personal Rescue Responder. Hurricane Katrina, Greensburg Kansas Tornado, California Wild Fires, Natural and man made disasters can all impact our homes and businesses. These materials (ICF\'s) I believe would do very well in all these areas mentioned above.Traditional Stick Build Homes are a construction method soon becoming obsolete. Quality materials are harder to find and so is qualified, and skilled workers and builders. Home owners and builders alike should take a harder look at these and other alternative building methods. \n\nWhen we learned about ICF\'s ( Insulated Concrete Homes ) we got excited and after we did our research and decided which product met our needs we choose Nudura and Verde Design Group, llc. \n\nWe planned on doing the build mostly ourselves and for the most part it\'s worked out great.
